The council is committed to advanced therapies

The Gipuzkoa Provincial Council and the and the collaborating agents of the Gipuzkoa Advanced New Therapies Territory (GANTT) project held a working meeting in February 2022 to continue outlining the main strategic lines of this initiative, which seeks to consolidate Gipuzkoa as a world reference in the development of cell, genes and RNA therapies with an industrial orientation. The meeting was attended by Javier Larrañaga, Deputy for Economic Promotion and Strategic Projects; Javier García-Cogorro, CEO of Viralgen; Gurutz Linazasoro, CEO of VIVEbiotech; Julio Arrizabalaga, director of the Biodonostia Institute; Marisa Arriola, director of BIC Gipuzkoa, Ainhoa Aizpuru, project director of BIC Gipuzkoa, as well as the work team of the Economic Promotion department, and the technical staff involved in the strategy.

Since then, work has been carried out analyzing the advanced international experiences of reference in the field of Advanced Therapies and assessing the research capacities and existing opportunities in Gipuzkoa through interviews with companies, institutions, and research centers. Throughout this process, the various driving forces of the project have participated, aligning their efforts until the definition of the strategic lines of action of the project and its associated initiatives.
